Albumin Method Change
LabPLUS is changing to the Bromcrescol Purple (BCP) assay in our measurement of albumin in plasma, serum and pleural or ascitic fluids. Results will be on average lower by 4-5g/L and a new reference interval for serum albumin and globulin will apply. A new formula will be applied for calculation of corrected calcium. Urine albumin will NOT be affected. Further details are available on our TestGuide or by contacting our chemical pathologist.
Gel containing serum separator or plasma separator tubes (SST or PST) NOT suitable for Clozapine, Tricyclic anti‐depressants, Benzodiazepine, Perhexiline and Methadone testing
