bulletpoint Registration

Specimen Registration is the area of Specimen Services responsible for the registration of the samples into the Laboratory computer system and the issuing of Laboratory reports. Both Grafton and Green Lane sites are covered by a specialised Registration Team comprised of 13 full-time and 1 part-time staff members. This team covers 0600 to 2400 hours Monday to Friday and from 0700 to 1630 on weekends. Outside of these hours, senior technical staff cover the area to provide a 24 hour, 7 days a week service.

The duties performed are mainly clerical and include computer input, Request Form Imaging, filing and report distribution. The computer programmes that are used include DELPHIC, PALMS Registration, Latté, CHIPS/CMS/NHI and Request Form Imaging (RFI).

Laboratory reports for Biochemistry, Haematology and Microbiology are issued 7 days a week while reports from Virology/Immunology and Anatomical Pathology are issued Monday to Friday.

Specimen Registration can be contacted through LabLink

bulletpoint Call Centre (Lablink)

  Key Contacts:
Daniel Wong

The LabPlus Call Centre operates from 0700 to 1900 hrs Monday to Friday and 0800 to 1200 hrs on Saturdays. Outside of these hours the automated answering service connects callers to the laboratory of their choice.

The call centre is staffed by four full-time people.

Many of the calls received are to request a Laboratory test result. If this is not yet available staff can assist in finding out when it will be ready. All the core call centre staff have extensive medical laboratory or similar experience, hence are able to help with a wide range of other queries, e.g. tests available, turnaround times, specimen requirements and special collection conditions.

If more specialised information is required, or clinical interpretation and advice necessary, the Call Centre staff will refer the caller to an appropriate clinically trained staff member.

The Team

The Specimen Reception team is a multi-skilled group of specialist technicians, medical laboratory scientists and medical typists.

Specialised Tests

We are a major referral laboratory in New Zealand, performing specialised tests essential for diagnosis of disease and genetic analysis.

Our IATA trained staff co-ordinate referral of samples to major diagnostic laboratories worldwide.

For more detailed information about these services please use the contacts listed above.
